Desert Bayou - Re-Design
October 25, 2007
Chicago | CMS, CRM, eBlast
Desert Bayou swarms with issues of poverty, race, religion and politics in a tale about 600 post–Katrina refugees who were, without their prior knowledge and only the slightest shred of consent, airlifted to an isolated military base in Utah.
After having great success with the initial design of the Desert Bayou website, Alex LeMay and Taproot Productions asked for a re–design of the initial website to better support the rapid growth of the film and it’s audience.
Working on tight turn around of one week, GeekPAK re–designed the Desert Bayou website to be more modular. Again, GeekPAK provided Taproot with the ability to blog, download images, view movie trailers and clips, update theater information, post current events, and send out weekly eblast updates with new show times, news articles and video clips to generate a buzz.
This time, GeekPAK incorporated a “Flash Intro” on the home page to give a sense of the films aesthetics. In addition, GeekPAK performed an information architecture diagnosis which shed light on a number of opportunities for site re–structure. Bringing reviews, show times and highlights to the top allowed each page to showcase pertinent movie information. GeekPAK's search engine optimization has continued to bring Desert Bayou atop the Google search results week after week.
The GeekPAK software was the only reason the website could be turned around on such a quick deadline, proving yet again how efficient the software can be.
